The British Airways i360: Brighton’s Sky-High Experience
The British Airways i360 is Brighton’s most dramatic modern attraction and one of the most distinctive observation experiences in the UK. The world’s tallest moving observation tower takes passengers up to 138 metres above sea level in a large circular glass pod, delivering breathtaking 360-degree views across Brighton, the South Downs, the English Channel, and on clear days up to 26 miles in every direction.
What to Expect at the i360
The i360 experience begins at the beautifully designed ground-level facility at the base of the tower on Brighton’s seafront. After boarding the spacious glass pod (which can hold up to 200 passengers), you ascend smoothly to the observation height over approximately five minutes. At the top, there’s time to move around the pod, taking in views in all directions. The descent is equally smooth and the entire experience typically lasts around 20-25 minutes.
i360 Views: What You Can See
From 138 metres, the views are extraordinary. To the north, the South Downs roll in green waves towards the horizon. To the south, the English Channel stretches to the horizon, with the coast of France occasionally visible on extremely clear days. Below, Brighton’s magnificent seafront and the ruined West Pier create one of Britain’s most iconic urban views.
The i360 Bar and Champagne Flight
The i360 pod has a fully licensed bar serving drinks including champagne, cocktails, and soft drinks during the ascent and descent. A “Champagne Flight” — a flight with a glass of champagne included — is a popular upgrade option, perfect for special occasions and celebrations.
Practical Information for i360 Visitors
The i360 operates year-round, seven days a week. Tickets should be booked online in advance, particularly in summer and at weekends when demand is high. The experience is fully accessible for wheelchair users. Photography and video are not just permitted but actively encouraged — the views are spectacular.
