Brighton Preston Park Guide 2026: Events, Sport & Nature

Preston Park: Brighton’s Premier Green Space

Preston Park is Brighton’s largest and most important park, a 64-acre green space in the north of the city that serves as a vital breathing space for Brighton’s residents and a major venue for some of the city’s biggest events. With formal gardens, sports facilities, a café, a velodrome, and a wonderful walled rose garden, Preston Park offers something for everyone who visits.

Preston Park Parkrun

One of Brighton’s most beloved regular events takes place every Saturday morning at Preston Park — the Parkrun. This free, timed 5km run attracts hundreds of participants of all abilities, from competitive runners to those jogging their first 5km. Visitors are warmly welcome to join — just register online in advance at the Parkrun website.

Cycling at Preston Park

Preston Park has an excellent cycling circuit popular with cyclists training and leisure riders. The park also connects to cycling routes through the city and towards the South Downs. The velodrome track at the park is used by Brighton’s cycling community for training.

Preston Park Events

Preston Park hosts some of Brighton’s biggest annual events. Brighton Pride’s main concert festival takes place here each August. The park has also hosted large music festivals, sports events, and community celebrations that attract tens of thousands of visitors.

The Walled Rose Garden

Preston Park’s beautifully maintained walled rose garden is one of Brighton’s most charming hidden gems. At peak bloom in June and July, the garden is spectacular — rows of heritage and modern rose varieties filling the air with fragrance. It’s a wonderfully peaceful spot within the busy park.

Preston Park Café and Bowling Green

The park café offers refreshments and light meals in a traditional park setting. The Victorian bowling green is one of the oldest in Brighton and continues to attract local bowls clubs. The surrounding area has children’s play facilities and open grassland ideal for ball games and picnics.
