Attendance requires early ticket purchase, but the event is utterly extraordinary for petrolheads.
Goodwood Revival
The Goodwood Revival in September recreates the atmosphere of Goodwood’s golden era as a racing circuit. Visitors and participants dress in period clothing, and historic racing cars and motorcycles compete on the circuit. It’s one of the most atmospheric sporting events in the UK calendar.
Goodwood Race Course
Separate from the motor circuit, Goodwood Racecourse is one of England’s finest horse racing venues. The Glorious Goodwood festival in July/August is one of the highlights of the flat racing calendar. Combining Goodwood racing with a Brighton stay makes for an excellent horse racing holiday.
Getting to Goodwood from Brighton
Goodwood is approximately 40 minutes west of Brighton by car. The A27 connects Brighton directly to Chichester, from where the Goodwood Estate is a short drive. For major events, shuttle buses from Chichester and other nearby towns are available.
Brighton’s Own Motoring Heritage
Brighton itself has strong motor racing heritage. The London to Brighton Veteran Car Run, one of the world’s oldest motoring events, terminates on Brighton seafront each November, bringing scores of extraordinary pre-1905 vehicles to the city in a wonderful spectacle.
